...not great at delivering what I know I want to hear.
Ive been quite happy for years listening to podcasts with iTunes. I didnt feel a need to try NPR One until, like many reviewers, I was sucked in by the promise of additional Invisibilia content.
What I found when I downloaded the app is a beautiful-looking interface with some terrific features that iTunes should copy immediately ( I love how the scrubber bar gets fat when you touch it to make rolling forward and backward in the podcast really easy - get a clue, Apple).
But the straightforward task of locating and playing Invisibilia, or Car Talk or Pop Culture Happy Hour or whatever seems nedlessly complicated. And every time I stop the pocast Im listening to and try to resume it later, I find Im listening to the latest news, instead. Then, getting back to where I was in the pocast I wanted to hear is an ardurous process.
I find that a lot of the "content curation" apps, like Pandora or Spotify and, now, NPR One, share some of these same complications. Theyre great at bombaring you with exciting possibilities for entertainment. But if you already know what you want to hear and just want to locate it and enjoy it, I think iTunes is still a better choice.
Sorry NPR. Im a big fan of your programming, but your app is frustrating.
