Best way to listen to NPR, and probably even talk radio overall.
Best way to listen to NPR, and probably even talk radio overall.
Surprised it loads so much audio while on wifi, able to continually listen/switch stories even if offline after.
Update: continues to crash. Please fix! This app is an essential part of my morning routine. However, Ive noticed over the past week issues with the initial launch of the app, with a message appearing noting that it was unable to load the audio and will try the next story (which works). The first story that always crashes is the news though, which is disappointing. Hoping for a fix soon. Thanks NPR for overall a great app!
Great for a quick listen to NPR stuff. It starts quickly and will expose you to plenty of fantastic material, from all sorts of interesting NPR shows you may never have heard of. If you give it your local station the stream will include local news. If you don’t have time for a suggested podcast, or want to skip a news item, just touch the skip button. This is not a replacement for the NPR News App; the focus is not just on news, and you get only little pieces from the core programs such as All Things Considered or Morning Edition. I have not used NPR 1 consistently enough to see how it learns about my interests. Very recently I had trouble with this app crashing on my iPhone 4, but removing and re-installing the app took care of this.
Best radio app, I have ever used… perhaps the CBC can hire the same developers.
Great interface!! Offers better and more in depth access to the material than any other podcasting app.
Theres a lot of programs to chose from, explore your interests. If you like podcasts, you need this app.
I love npr podcasts and its news app but dont find npr one useful
Its different than radio. More like a best of. Ive discovered new program that my local npr station doesnt broadcast.
This is a great app, that brings together very interesting podcasts, but once you start following a couple you lose track of what you have listened to. Just grey out the ones that have been played. Also, allow individual casts to be marked played or unplayed. Only feature i can see that is missing.
Happy with the automatic play function. But the big downside is I cant go back to any previous episode when I hit fwd button by mistake. I cant save what I liked in the app or in Pocket. Please address it asap!
What else to say? The best way to get NPR on iOS.
Great content tailored and mixed by the app. Smooth and glam user interface.
All the good stuff with out repetition or listening to shows I dont want to! So great. Saving my commute
Make a refined version for iPad. Also allow me to filter shows I dont want to hear.
I love the fact that I can find my shows any time of day and get current news. I wish I could rank my podcasts and reject suggested ones.
Having no skip x seconds button was enough of a reason for me to delete the app. Also, it was super confusing to find a podcast already played. If I like something, wouldnt you want me to share it with others?
I want to like this but at least two big problems right away. First, it keeps asking me to do things on the screen while Im driving. Second, its playing a movie review from 2014 in the middle of todays news. Then, it doesnt give me a way to say no thanks to that. This doesnt feel like a very "NPR" experience. Seriously, who wants to listen to a random old movie review completely out of context?
First things first- download this if you enjoy the diverse offerings of NPR. Ive been using this app a lot lately, homebound with a broken leg. Im enjoying the variety and surprises of short and long pieces and the interjection of current news. I cant speak much to the selection of pieces, the algorithm seems to need a bit of work, but theres no skip limit. Today Im tired of politics, so Im skipping away. Perhaps a questionnaire to help focus your interest? All told its a great experience and I look forward to continued development and improvements.
Im a HUGE fan of NPR, and I subscribe to almost all the NPR podcasts. I keep hearing about NPR1 on each one, over and over, so I decided to give it a try. Im happy enough with the programming and I liked the Pandora style clicking, Im interested, when its interesting, and skipping a program if its not, but I wasnt thinking about what all that live streaming would do to my data plan. I got a huge phone bill last week, as the app required constant online data usage. Im going back to previously downloaded podcasts from now on, unless Im somewhere on a wifi network!
